Chongqing emerges as luxury niche, a boon for hoteliers

The rapid economic development of Chongqing is spurring on the development of hotels in southwest China. The Hilton Chonguinq, which opened in 2002, holds 423 guest rooms and suites along with various meeting, leisure, and banquet facilities.

Jean-Philippe Jacopin, the general manager of the property, says the hotel mainly targets corporate customers for meetings and exhibitions, but recently saw "a significant increase of leisure guests especially on weekends and bank holidays."
