Tourists from around the world that come to laze on Goa’s balmy beaches will have a choice of two airports instead of only one. The existing airport is in Dabolim, South Goa – owned by the Indian Navy and operated by the Airport Authority of India – and the new one is being built in Mopa near the Maharashtra border on Goa’s northern tip.
At present, the Goa airport handles 2.7 million passengers annually.
The government plans to build 35 new airports across the country, including Sikkim and Karnataka, which are scheduled to come up in the next two years.
