Swedish home products company IKEA’s bid to enter the Indonesian market in 2014 has to be seen as a challenge by local furniture players, a designer says.
Alun-Alun Indonesia designer Pincky S.R. Sudarman said that IKEA’s presence in the country should to advance the local furniture industry.
"It is understandable that [the local furniture industry] is worried that IKEA will absorb the local market. The most important thing is that IKEA should also consider local designers [to work together with]," Pincky said, as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
