Sanyo forecasts return to profit on solar-cell demand

Sanyo Electric Co., the world’s biggest maker of rechargeable batteries, has forecast its first annual profit in three years on earnings from solar cells and electronic components.

Net income will probably be JPY5 billion (USD53 million) in the 12 months ending March 2011, from a loss of JPY48.8 billion a year earlier, the Osaka-based company said in a statement on Thursday.
