Harvey Norman eyes Dick Smith’s Move

Harvey Norman is eyeing what may be the only attractive assets of collapsed retailer Dick Smith – its Move "fashtronics" stores at Sydney Airport.

Harvey Norman executive chairman Gerry Harvey confirmed that Australia’s largest furniture and homewares retailer was crunching the numbers on the four Move airport stores, which continue to trade while Dick Smith’s eponymous stores and 10 non-airport Move stores are closing down.

The Move brand was launched by Dick Smith in 2014 – weeks before its AUD520 million (USD72.3m) initial public offer – after market research identified a gap in the AUD12 billion consumer electronics market for consumer electronics as fashion accessories.
