A proposal to implement a carbon dioxide (CO2) emission-based excise tax rate for vehicles in Thailand will likely be delayed for another four months so it can be studied in greater detail and more discussions can be held with relevant parties.
"We have been trying to base this policy on European standards, and companies such as Ford, Mazda and Japanese companies have agreed [with the idea], but they want it to be fair to all companies. I have assured them we are listening and will be transparent," said Thailand’s Industry Minister M.R. Pongsvas Svasti.
