Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury automobile maker, hopes to continue with a double digit growth in India this year too.
During the calendar year 2011, the company sold 7,430 units of its luxury cars in India, compared to 5,819 units sold in the previous year, accounting for a sales surge of 27.69 percent year on year. A significant part of its sales have been from the tier two and tier three cities. For the company its models C-Class and E-Class sedans account for a major chunk of the sales.
On the company’ sales target and plans for the year 2012, Peter Honegg, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India Private Limited, said, the company hopes to see a strong double-digit growth, well over 10 percent, during the year 2012 too.
