On Thursday, Indo-Japanese automaker Maruti Suzuki announced officially that it sold over one million passenger cars during the last fiscal year, helping it join the elite band of car manufacturers such Toyota, General Motors, Volkswagen, Ford, Honda, Renault, Hyundai, Suzuki and Nissan, that are selling a million units or more every year.
The company sold 10,18,365 vehicles during 2009-10, of which 1,47,575 were exported. Total sales were up 29 percent, despite a difficult year.
