The three-year long wait for Jeep to setup shop in India will finally end, as the Fiat-Chrysler Automotive (FCA) Group company officially commences operations in India from September 1.

As part of its initial expansion, Jeep will open shops in 10 cities across the country by the end of this year, which will initial retail the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUVs. The performance spec Grand Cherokee SRT will be introduced later in the year.

Jeep India will commence operations with two dealerships located in Delhi and Ahmedabad respectively. An image surfaced online shows the Ahmedabad dealership under construction and will be operated by Concept Motors, which already owns Hyundai dealerships in the city.

The Delhi dealership on the other hand, will only retail the Grand Cherokee SRT initially, since the diesel ban does not allow the company to retail the other two models that use 2000cc and above capacity diesel engines.

Jeep’s next outlets will be located in South India with one located in Kochi and will be run by Pinnacle Motors, which also runs a Fiat dealership in city, while Mumbai will among the other cities where the company plans to establish its base.
