Japan’s auto sales rose 37pc in March

Japan’s domestic sales of new cars, trucks and buses increased 37 percent from a year earlier in March, rising for the eighth straight month, as the biggest Japanese carmaker, Toyota Motor Corp., posted solid sales growth despite concerns about damage to its reputation for quality after worldwide recalls.

Sales totalled 443,298 vehicles in March, up from 323,064 a year earlier, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said on 1 April.
