Indonesia motorcycle sales to rise 15pc in 2011

Despite concern about the rising cost of auto financing and a possible lack of spare parts from Japan, motorcycle sales in Indonesia are forecast to grow 15 percent this year, an industry official said.

Gunadi Sindhuwinata, chairman of the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), said on Wednesday that the association had yet to revise its target sales this year because there was still plenty of time for a boost from rising demand from individuals and corporations.

Motorcycles sale reached 7.4 million units last year, beating the AISI’s target of 6m units.
