India’s Maruti expands to meet demand

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., India’s largest carmaker by sales, said it would set up a new manufacturing plant in the western state of Gujarat as it tries to meet potential demand for its vehicles in India and overseas.

The company said it would invest INR40 billion (USD719.7 million) initially to build the factory that is expected to start producing by end of March 2016. The initial goal is to produce 250,000 vehicles a year, Maruti Suzuki said in a statement.
