India Yamaha Motor targets 20pc market share in deluxe motorbike segment

Motorbike manufacturer India Yamaha Motor on 5 April said it is targeting a market share of 20 percent in the deluxe and premium segments by year end 2010.

The company currently has a market share of 12 percent in the deluxe segment.

"Our domestic sales continue to be strong for our premium segment products like YZF-R15, Fazer and FZ-16. In the deluxe segment, we have succeeded in garnering a market share of 12 percent," says India Yamaha Motor national business head Pankaj Dubey .

The company’s overall domestic market share is around 3.5 percent, which it plans to increase to 10 percent by year end 2012, Dubey said.
