Honda investing USD330m in fifth mainland car factory

Honda Motor plans to invest up to USD330 million in its fifth car plant on the mainland to cope with mounting competition. The new factory, with an annual capacity of 120,000 units, will boost the Japanese carmaker’s mainland production 20 percent to 730,000 units a year. It will be built next to the existing plant of Honda’s Chinese joint venture, Dongfeng Honda Automobile, in Wuhan, and is due to be operational by 2011.
