GM records net loss of USD4.3 bn in six months after exiting bankruptcy

Automaker General Motors has reported a net loss of USD4.3 billion in the first six months after exiting bankruptcy in July last year, but hopes to return to the black in 2010.

The company’s USD4.3 billion net loss for the period 10 July to 31 December 2009, includes the pre-tax impact of a USD2.6 billion settlement loss related to the United Auto Workers retiree medical plan and a USD1.3 billion foreign currency re-measurement loss.
