Gucci collaborates with Xbox

Gucci x Xbox

In the year of the Italian fashion house’s centennial, Gucci and video gaming brand Xbox, now reaching its 20th birthday, came together to celebrate their respective anniversaries with a limited-edition collaboration.

Xbox and Gucci’s first collaboration takes the House’s beginnings in the world of sports and leisure to the next level with 100 numbered Xbox Series X consoles, each featuring Gucci’s Rhombi design from the ’30s spread across its matte black body.

As cited on the Italian fashion house’s website, the monogram “GG” becomes a wordplay, representing Gucci’s logo and the phrase “good game,” commonly used in the gaming community as a way of signing off at the end of online multiplayer contests.

The “GG” acronym is also something Gucci is using to push its virtual world of “Gucci Games,” playable right now. Helmed by Creative Director Alessandro Michele, Gucci Games is a series of eight playable experiences on the brand’s website, each inspired by the brand’s different advertising campaigns.

The 100 numbered sets include a black Xbox Series X console laser-engraved with the GG pattern, two wireless controllers featuring the Web stripe, complemented by a hard case inspired by Gucci’s archival luggage. On the bottom of the case sit the words “GOOD GAME”.

The fashion-gaming crossover was unveiled on Twitter on 7th November.
