Marks & Spencer opens new Food store in HK’s Admiralty

Marks & Spencer (M&S) on Thursday opened a new Food store at Queensway Plaza in Hong Kong’s Admiralty. The new 1,000 square foot store will showcase over 1,400 high quality food and drinks from sandwiches, salads to prepared meals and wine.

"Our Food stores have proved very popular among our Hong Kong customers who can discover a world of flavours at each and every store. Queensway Plaza is the perfect location to strengthen Marks & Spencer’s offering of high quality, innovative food and award winning wines at convenient locations, to its customers across Hong Kong," said Ben Skapoullou, Head of Food, Asia at Marks & Spencer.

The new store is in line with M&S’s growth strategy for Greater China, one of its priority international markets. The UK retail giant opened a 1,500-square-metre flagship store at The Venetian Macau in November last year, and another one in December at The Place in Beijing.

M&S will continue to expand its presence in Hong Kong this year, the retailer said on Thursday. Following the opening of the new Food store in Admiralty, it’s planning to open its largest food store in Kowloon this year and complete the modernization of its Central Tower flagship store this summer.

Established in 1884, M&S has over 870 stores in the UK and over 480 international stores across 59 territories in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The bellwether retailer opened its first store at Hong Kong’s Ocean Centre shopping mall in May 1988 and now has 25 wholly-owned stores in Hong Kong and Macau.
