Macau’s food safety to have new rules

The proposed bill on food safety will give Macau’s Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau the power to supervise the manufacture of foodstuffs.

Executive Council spokesperson Leong Heng Teng on Tuesday announced that the law proposal is ready and will soon be sent to the Legislative Assembly for a vote.

Under the new regulations, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau will have the power to inspect any food production site apart from inside residents’ homes, and recall any food product deemed unsafe.
