Asia is world’s biggest beer producer

As economic woes affect beer sales in Europe, a 5.5 percent rise in beer production in Asia has put the region ahead of traditional producers for the first time, making Asia the world’s biggest beer producer, according to a study by the research arm of Japanese brewing giant Kirin Holdings.

The Asian surge was led by Vietnam, where the domestic and international popularity of labels such as 333 leaped 24.3 percent, followed by India with 12.3 percent and China with 7 percent.
