Polo’s gallop into Asia gives investors pause

Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. is making a big bet to expand in Asia, but the cost of that effort rattled investors on Wednesday.

The company aims to eventually double Asia’s contribution to its revenue, so that it accounts for one third of the total. And it is spending heavily to pull that off. Over the past year, Polo has opened a headquarters in Hong Kong and hired 700 people in the region.
