Inland China new frontier for luxury brands

Key retail property markets in Asia have so far emerged largely unscathed from the uncertainty in the global economy that has led to weakening occupier demand and falling rents in many key office markets across the region.

The latter part of 2011 saw major international retailers, particularly those in the luxury goods and fast fashion sectors, continue to open new stores in most key regional centres, with cities in China witnessing a particularly rapid rate of expansion.

China remains a focal point for global luxury brands. Many large groups that are now well established in tier one and tier two cities are eyeing emerging locations in the country’s west in their next phase of expansion.
