Uniqlo joins stampede to the suburbs in Australia

The international retail invasion to Australia will see Japanese retailer Uniqlo open a new store in Melbourne’s Chadstone shopping centre, only months after its city site near to the inaugural H&M store.

Chadstone’s mall is one of the biggest and most profitable in the country, which made it a magnet for the overseas retailers, including Zara, Gap and over time, H&M. Uniqlo will be located in the new ”fashion capital” wing.

The chief executive of Uniqlo Australia, Shoichi Miyasaka, said the opening of the first suburban Australian store at Victoria’s "fashion capital" was ”a perfect fit for our brand”.
