People in Hong Kong are more likely to order delivery meals on the weekends whereas people in Taiwan prefer to order on weekdays, this according to a new batch of research from leading food delivery service Deliveroo.
The research was conducted in order to gain more in-depth insights on eating habits in the region and support Deliveroo’s mission to bring the best local restaurants direct to people’s doors. Taiwan recently became Deliveroo’s 13th market worldwide following its Taipei launch in October 2018. Expanding quickly, Deliveroo anticipates that it will fully cover Taipei City in the coming year and plans to move into further outlying areas as well.
Key findings from the research comparing Hong Kong and Taiwan delivery meal habits include:
• Sunday evening is the most popular delivery time in Hong Kong, followed by Saturday and Friday – indicating that Hong Kongers order more meals at home and fewer at the office• In Taiwan, Friday afternoon is the busiest delivery time, followed by Thursday, Wednesday and Monday; demonstrating a preference for delivery-to-desk office orders
• The Salmon Poke from POKEWORLD is the most popular Deliveroo menu item in Hong Kong; followed by Pho Tai from BEP Vietnamese Kitchen and Kale Salad from KALE – showing Hong Kongers’ love for healthy, international cuisine
• Asian cuisine tops Taipei diners’ favourite dishes, with the top three Deliveroo orders being Chicken Rice from LiangXing Chicken Rice, Signature Spicy Soup from Ma Dan Spicy – Spicy Lo Mei (Taipei Raohe), and Papaya Milk from Papaya Milk
• Ranked by popularity, Hong Kongers top three cuisine types are Chinese, Western and Taiwanese; whilst in Taiwan people prefer Taiwanese, Japanese and American food.
