Coach may have the loveable Mickey Mouse to soon thank for a better-than-expected quarter.

As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, the handbag and accessories maker has linked up with Disney (DIS) for a whimsical limited-edition collection featuring the world’s most iconic mouse. The collection includes a range of handbags, t-shirts and sneakers featuring Mickey in various ways. Two items in particular standout — a red handbag with two large mouse ears (above) and a leather jacket with an outline of Mickey on the back in silver studs.

The Disney collection has already begun to appear in U.S. stores and will be available worldwide June 17 in Coach stores and online. “We were most impressed by Coach’s new Disney collaboration, which debuted in the Soho New York City store last week,” said Jefferies analyst Randy Konik in a new note to clients Monday.

Coach’s use of Mickey is the latest example of it channeling some creativity under new chief designer Stuart Vevers to set itself apart from key rivals such as Michael Kors and Kate Spade  and attract more fashion-focused customers. Coupled with a renewed dedication to quality, it is managing to stage a rare retail comeback.
