Nike reveals new Asia-Pacific head among management hires

Nike Inc. revealed last week a slew of management hires including a new general manager of its women’s division and a new Asia-Pacific Latin America (APLA) chief, as the U.S. sportswear giant advances its ‘Consumer Direct Acceleration’ plan, as a strategy to unlock long-term growth and profitability.

From March 13, Amy Montagne, currently vice president and general manager of Asia-Pacific Latin America (APLA) will transition to lead the women’s business as VP/GM women’s. She will replace Whitney Malkiel, who has decided to leave the company.

Likewise, Cathy Sparks, currently VP, Nike direct, EMEA, will transition to lead the APLA geography as vice president and general manager of Asia Pacific and Latin America.

“These changes will further build on our strengths and underscore our commitment to accelerate our women’s business, invest in our geographies, and further grow our top talent. We remain committed to transforming Nike faster to define the marketplace of the future and unlock the next phase of growth through CDA,” said Heidi O’Neill, president of consumer and marketplace.

Finally, Nike also appointed James Loduca to the role of chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer. Loduca is the fourth person to fill the role since 2020.

In its most recent earnings update, Nike Inc. announced on December 20 total revenues for the second quarter surged 17 percent to USD 13.3 billion, on the back of double-digit sales growth in North America and Europe, offsetting single digit declines in its Greater China business.

By region, Nike Greater China revenues fell 3 percent to USD 1.78 billion, from USD 1.84 billion In the prior-year period. Footwear sales in the region grew 11 percent to 1.37 billion USD, offset by declines in apparel, and equipment, down 30 percent and 44 percent, respectively.
