Balmain appoints new President for Greater China

French fashion house Balmain has named Lily Liu as its new President for Greater China, effective on 12th November, as the brand further expands in the region, reported WWD.

Liu was Versace’s Vice President for China. She joined Balmain with 25 years of working with European luxury brands in the Chinese market, such as Bottega Veneta, Lanvin and Christian Dior.

Balmain reported China as its second largest retail market after the United States with a strong growth in the region. The brand has planned to open three new boutiques before January 2022 at the IFS mall in Chengdu, the Haitang Bay Mall on Hainan island and Chongqing.

“As Balmain continues its expansion in the region, we are confident that Ms. Liu will help guide both the house and its growing team, as we all work to fully realize Balmain’s outstanding potential and build upon Olivier Rousteing’s unique vision for this historic house,” Jean-Jacques Guével, Chief Executive Officer of Balmain, told WWD.
