Jabong CEO Sanjeev Mohanty to head Levi’s India

Sanjeev Mohanty is likely to be named as the new India head of Levi’s, according to people familiar with the matter.

Currently CEO of Jabong, Mohanty is credited with building Benetton into the largest fashion brand in India during his 11-year stint with the company.

He also steered some key brands of Madura Lifestyle & Fashion and had spent two years as product manager at Levi’s at the beginning of his career in fashion retailing.

Levi’s in India has been searching for a new managing director after Sanjay Purohit left to join private equity firm Samara Capital.

The annual domestic sales of Levi’s, through a network of 400 stores and multi-brand outlets, is estimated at around $100 million.
