Yohji Yamamoto debuts first flagship store in Hong Kong’s K11 MUSEA

​On 26th August, K11 Musea opened its doors to public after 10 years of planning and building. The project is bringing in town new international brands, and welcoming brands with presence in Asia with exclusive concepts designed for this new venue.

Yohji Yamamoto, the Japanese brand known by its creator, announces its official grand opening in Hong Kong.

Set to be the first ever flagship store in the Greater China area, the store will be located at the new cultural-retail destination K11 MUSEA, a unique retail destination touted by its immersive experiences of art, culture, and commerce.

The new flagship store covers an area of over 2,000 square feet and is conveniently located next to the mall entrance. The minimalist door design blends perfectly with the vast green exterior of the galleria.

The store was designed by Michael Sypkens, a Dutch-Japanese architect who co-founded the Japan-based design office OSO. Sypkens, who had worked with the famous Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, seamlessly blends Western architecture and Japanese design together.

The store design is inspired by the “Japanese Garden”, in which is crafted based on the minimalist idea of Yohji Yamamoto himself. The whole store gives a stark, monochrome look with a space filled with cement, lined with large cubes of imitation tetrapod structure that reflects the closeness to the Victoria Harbour.
