In an effort to boost outlet expansion in the nation, US brand Starbucks plans to resume its expansion plan by establishing 90 new stores in Thailand by 2024.
Starbucks, which opened its first store in Thailand in 1998, now has 444 locations in the country. It also offers services online through partners like the Singaporean e-commerce sites Shopee and Lazada.
The company reported growth in revenue in the first half of the year and has since established 15 new locations in Thailand in 2022. The new stores are mostly located in gas stations and neighbourhood shopping centers. The company has intentions to open an additional 15 stores in the ensuing five months.
“Thailand is a strategic country for Starbucks in Asia Pacific, along with Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. It still has the potential to open more Starbucks in Thailand due to strong brand awareness. Thais have a lifestyle of drinking coffee and Thailand is also one of the important tourist destinations,” said Nednapa Srisamai, Managing Director, Starbucks Thailand.
