Malaysia’s Apr exports stumble as overseas demand stutters

Malaysian exports experienced a slight decline in April for the second consecutive month due to weakening demand, the statistics department said on Wednesday.

The country also saw its trade surplus slump 31.8 percent from MYR11 billion (USD3.48b) a year ago to MYR7.5b.

Exports fell 0.1 percent year-on-year to MYR57.7b largely due to lower exports to the European Union, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan.
