Kuala Lumpur: 12 brands to be highlight of new mall

From retail therapy to entertainment and home furnishing, Sunway Velocity Mall, Cheras has revealed its line-up of key retail partners that will be available when the mall opens in October.

During an unveiling ceremony at its sales gallery, the 12 brands revealed were Parkson, TGV Cinemas, Harvey Norman, Popular, Toys “R” Us, Home’s Harmony & SB Furniture, Uniqlo, Aeon MaxValu Prime, Grand Imperial, JD, Chi-X Fitness and Padini Concept Store.

Sunway Shopping Malls & Theme Parks chief executive officer H.C. Chan said collectively, the stores would occupy more than 40% of the mall space.

“We currently have a sign-up rate of 80% and expect to increase to 90% or more when the shopping mall opens.

“Sunway Velocity Mall is expected to operate with full occupancy by the following year,” he said.

Chan added the retailers would bring in new concepts and products that would only be available at the mall.

“For example, Aeon MaxValu Prime will be the first supermarket concept straight from Japan as well as the latest fitness club concept by Chi-X.

“The mall will also boast TGV’s fifth IMAX Hall in the country,” he said.

Sunway Property managing director for the property development division for Malaysia and Singapore Sarena Cheah said the trust and confidence by retailers contributed to the high take-up rate.
