Indonesia’s inflation may accelerate to 4.38pc in Jan, says Central Bank

Bank Indonesia has warned that inflation will likely accelerate in January due to a spike in certain food commodities.

The consumer price index could rise by 0.75 percent in January from a month earlier, the central bank’s governor, Agus Martowardojo, told reporters Friday. At that rate, year-on year inflation would accelerate to 4.38 percent this month, compared to 3.35 percent in December.

Bank Indonesia has targeted an inflation rate of between 3 percent and 5 percent this year.
