E-commerce road map to be finished this month, Indonesian minister says

The Indonesian government plans to launch a road map by the end of this month setting out guidelines on how the country intends to regulate the e-commerce industry in the next five years, according to Communications and Information Technology Minister Rudiantara.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Rudiantara’s office in conjunction with the Trade Ministry, began formal discussions on the issue in February due to the growing numbers of e-commerce transactions within the country.

The drafting of the road map will involve discussions with Bank Indonesia and eight other ministries, including the Finance Ministry and the ministry of cooperatives and small and medium businesses.
