The Australian Bureau of Statistics has produced the data for the monthly turnover in the retail sector for February.
Its findings showed that retail turnover was down by 1.4 percent (seasonally adjusted). This follows a 1.1 percent increase in January 2010 and a 0.8 percent decrease in December 2009.
Furthermore, the following industries increased in turnover in trend terms in February: Cafes, restaurants and take-away food services (0.4 percent); other retailing (0.4 percent); department stores (0.2 percent); and household goods retailing (0.1 percent). Food retailing (-0.1 percent) and clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (-0.1 percent) both decreased in this month.
