Pantone opens first store in Hong Kong


Global colour authority and trend researcher Pantone has opened its first lifestyle concept store in Hong Kong.

Dubbed the ‘Pantone Lifestyle Gallery’, the new Hong Kong store is located inside Tai Koo’s Eslite Spectrum bookstore inside Cityplaza, and opened in collaboration with lifestyle retailer, Issho, according Tatler Hong Kong.

Spanning 600 square feet, the store design boasts several colour block shades in different tones — hot pink, blue, green, or orange hues — which mark out the differing instore zones.

Here, customers will find a select range of lifestyle and homeware goods such as bedsheets, cushions, blankets and towels, from Pantone’s Funmix Collection. As for apparel, the Hong Kong store offers cotton and jersey t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and cotton-shell fabric slippers – all in the same colour block hues referenced in the store layout.

In a Hong Kong exclusive, the Tai Koo outlet also retails a limited-edition tableware collection with minimalistic pinstripe designs (instead of colour blocks) and is made up of a coffee cup set, dishes and bowls. The exclusive collection comes in four colour options: red, green, and two shades of blue.

In addition to the physical store, Pantone plans to stage events in Hong Kong throughout 2021. An online store is also scheduled for June this year via, with updates being released on Issho 46’s social channels.

In its most recent colour trend report revealed in December, Pantone named its two Colours of the Year for 2021: Illuminating and Ultimate Gray. Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow “sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power,” said Pantone at the time, in a statement.

Ultimate Gray is “emblematic of solid and dependable elements. which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation. The colours of pebbles on the beach and natural elements whose weathered appearance highlights an ability to stand the test of time, Ultimate Gray quietly assures, encouraging feelings of composure, steadiness and resilience,” added Pantone.
