The Japanese quick fashion eyewear company Owndays announced the launch of their new store in Ngee Ann City’s Takashimaya S.C. in Singapore on 17 May, 2022. This will be the brand’s second premium concept shop worldwide, and the 33rd standalone store in Singapore. The new store will open to the public on 20 May, 2022, and will feature an exclusive assortment of made-in-Japan eyeglasses and premium ophthalmic lenses handpicked for its premium concept stores.
The Takashimaya S.C. store reflects the “Japanese Luxury” idea first launched at the company’s first premium concept store at Marina Bay Sands, providing a premium eyewear shopping experience topped with Japanese hospitality and a wider product assortment. The new store offers a distinct Japanese-styled aesthetic that pays homage to the brand’s heritage while infusing a touch of luxury, drawing influence from Ryoanji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major site in Kyoto, Japan known for its famous rock garden.
To accomplish the Zen Garden interior, the main retail floor is flanked by a dry landscape replete with rock arrangements, gravel, moss, and bushes. To emphasize a sense of traditional Japanese, the store interior features a lot of beige wood components.
“The Takashimaya S.C. store symbolizes Owndays’ fundamental principle of constant evolution and innovation in order to provide excellent eyewear to consumers at the best possible price. We are able to make well-designed, high-quality eyewear more available to our consumers by having a store right in the center of Orchard Road. Furthermore, we believe that the new store will provide local customers with a complete Japanese experience without having to fly to Japan. Customers are free to visit the store even if they have no intention of purchasing spectacles and simply want to be transported to Japan,” said Také Umiyama, Managing Director of Owndays.
