Japan’s Daiso launches online store in Singapore

Japanese discount retailer Daiso has launched an online store in Singapore, making it possible for Singaporeans to shop Daiso’s extensive range of fashion, home and lifestyle products from the comfort of their homes.

While not all Daiso’s products are available to purchase online, the online Daiso Singapore store, which opened on 18th January, boasts some 430 products in over 25 categories. In Singapore that includes cleaning supplies, kitchen tools, personal care and stationery. For now, food is not currently available for purchase online.

Daiso’s Singapore customers can opt for delivery to any Singapore address, via Ninja Van, but a minimum purchase of five items is required. There is also a basic delivery fee, which differs according to the weight of the items bought.

The online store in Singapore comes on the back of Daiso’s physical store expansion in the southeast Asian nation. Today, Daiso boasts 24 brick-and-mortar stores in Singapore, and recently opened two new branches at Marina Square and Canberra Plaza.

Founded in 1977 by Hirotake Yano, Daiso today retails 90,000 lifestyle items and novelty gift products and introduces over 1,000 new products to customers every month.

The company boasts some 3,150 domestic stores, and 1,900 overseas locations, after opening its first international store in Taiwan in 2,000.

Daiso now operates in markets including Australia, Canada, the U.S., Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Rumania, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar, U.A.E., Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Mauritius.
