Dubbed the Yakult Ice Cream Shop, the Tokyo pop-up will appear at Shibuya 109’s Imada Kitchen from 1st June to 1st August, 2021.

As the name suggests, the dessert pop-up will serve locals a selection of seven ice creams and shakes with names including Yalkult Parfait, Ice de Yakult and Ice de Yalkut Sherbert — all made featuring Yakult’s signature sweetened probiotic milk.

The Yakult Parfait comes in two flavours: Berry and Caramel, while the Yakult Soft Serve evokes freshness and “chill”, with the company explaining the double-meaning of the English word “chill” to mean both “cold” and “relax”, as in the phrase “chill out”.

The Ice de Yakult Shake is said to be “an unprecedented shake” that contains live lactic acid bacteria.

Finally, the Ice cream and Sherbet can be ordered separately (two scoops) or as a mix, with one scoop of each. Each dessert also comes with a wafer shaped like the iconic
Yakult bottle.

The new Ice de Yakult ice-creams will also be on sale in limited numbers at Tokyu Store supermarkets around the country from 1st June.

Founded in 1935, Yakult is known as a healthy sweet milk drink that helps maintain good gut flora. Each bottle is said to contain more than 10 billion ‘Lactobacillus paracasei Shirota’ bacteria.
