Japan exports bounce back

Japanese exports fell at a record pace last fiscal year as the global financial crisis stymied trade, but shipments to China, which surpassed the US to become Japan’s leading trade partner, helped to limit the severity of the drop.

While the plunge in overall exports stung the Japanese economy, analysts say shipments are expected to make up for lost ground in the current fiscal year as China and other high-growth Asian countries that have quickly regained their footing demand more Japanese autos, electronics and other goods.
