Taiwan’s GDP expanded 13pc in 1Q10

Taiwan’s GDP grew at its fastest pace in more than three decades in the first quarter of the year, government data showed on Thursday, driven by economic recovery in China and strong growth in exports and private investment.

The 13.27 percent on-year growth in the first quarter was higher than the median 10.66 percent expansion forecast by 15 economists, and marked the second consecutive quarter of growth after five quarters of contraction. It was the fastest growth since the third quarter of 1978.
