NARS drops NFTs to mark its 20th anniversary in Hong Kong

In celebration of its 20th anniversary in Hong Kong, cosmetics brand NARS will drop its NFT line. The company says this is an initiative to give back to NARS fans in Hong Kong. Through NARS non-fungible tokens, women can embrace their individuality and express themselves, all while drawing engagement for its #NARSissist campaign. This move marks NARS’ further venture into the metaverse, building onto its virtual world success back in April this year.Inspired by the new NARS Powermatte Lipstick Collection, a total of 2,022 POWERICON NFTs will be released, including 1,702 standard avatars and 320 special edition avatars – each POWERICON NFT has a unique face shape, hairstyle, lip colour, outfit, and accessory.

This initiative echoes last year’s NFT series focusing on the signature NARS Blush Orgasm, a pilot program that ventures into the metaverse with all #NARSissists. The POWERICON NFT was designed by local designer and illustrator Rex Koo. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Koo is a visual artist who is strongly passionate about pop culture, particularly Hong Kong movies. For NARS’ latest NFT series, Koo derived inspiration from six selected lip shades and their symbolic attributes, with strong design cues from pop culture and art from the 80s.

The NFTs of POWERICON are based on the blockchain of Solana. As NARS emphasizes the power of colours as a vehicle for self-expression, the series allows owners to have priority access to the new Powermatte Lipstick Collection, VIP entry to the September event, and complimentary makeup service.
