Dufry has revealed five standalone luxury beauty boutiques at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Terminal 3, following the five-year contract it won in September 2022. The stores cover 450 square metres of retail space both in landside and airside departures areas.
Dufry said the openings represent a significant milestone in the company’s China and wider Asia Pacific expansion plans, in line with its Destination 2027 strategy.
In landside departures, Dufry has debuted the Xiangshe 香舍 or ‘House of Scents’ multi-brand beauty store, its first in China. The multi-brand boutique offers luxury fragrances, skincare and makeup geared for Chinese travellers.
In airside departures, Dufry has opened four standalone boutiques from Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Guerlain and Shiseido.
On 21 June, Dufry subsidiary HMSHost International opened four F&B outlets at the airport. These include the Crystal Jade Restaurant, Habit Burger Grill, The Coffee Club and Puro Gusto.
Dufry Asia Pacific president and CEO Freda Cheung commented: “We are absolutely delighted to be offering this selection of luxury beauty brands to the passengers that travel through Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.
Asia Pacific is a key growth region for Dufry, and this new agreement with our airport partner, following the successful opening of our F&B outlets at the same airport, is an important step forward for us in our geographical expansion and objective to revolutionise the travel experience.
“The launch of Xiangshe 香舍 or ‘House of Scents’ in China is a milestone for us and we very much look forward to seeing the concept thrive and grow across the APAC region,” Cheung added.
Sino Singapore Chongqing Airport Commercial Management Co. general manager Ma Yan added: “As the global leader in travel retail, Dufry has a remarkable reputation for delivering bespoke products and services. This time it has successfully established itself in Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport with beauty boutiques from Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Guerlain and Shiseido, as well as the multi-brand fragrance concept store Xiangshe, providing a world-class shopping experience for travellers.

“It is fitting that we are delivering such a vibrant and engaging skincare experience at the gateway to the city,” commented Lancôme general manager, China, Sarah Sai. “Chongqing Airport T3 epitomises the special platform offered by travel retail to engage with domestic travellers and bring Lancôme to their lives. We are delighted to partner once again with Dufry and Chongqing Airport Authority.”
Shiseido’s head of business development for China, Johnson Jiang added: “We are excited to see that more China’s travellers are flying again and Shiseido is delivering a full product assortment and highest quality service to the passengers in Chongqing Airport T3. We are delighted to partner with Dufry in Chongqing Airport for a successful commercial upgrade.”
“It is brilliant that we are delivering such a beautiful store in Chongqing T3,” added Guerlain associate sales director for China, Derek Zhang.
“Guerlain is a brand with over 190 years history, and during the past 20 years it has been highly welcomed by Chinese consumers. I think the expansion in Chongqing T3 offers consumers the same wonderful experience when they travel as they receive in the domestic market. We trust Dufry’s professionalism in this industry, that’s why we chose to cooperate with Dufry to open our first travel retail boutique in the west region of China.”
Estée Lauder’s head of business development for China, Lawrence Zhu, added: “We are very happy to partner with Dufry for our fantastic Estée Lauder boutique in Chongqing Airport T3. We hope the store will achieve significant sales and hope to explore more opportunities with Dufry in China’s duty paid projects in the near future.”
