Hong Kong’s Star Ferry gets Dior-ed

French luxury fashion house Dior just reimagined the signature Star Ferry in Hong Kong, completed with flags marked with the brand’s logo at both ends of the ferry, and wrapped with Cannage patterns inside out. It’s not the first time Dior has entered Hong Kong Harbor. In 2011, it sailed a junk with a Dior mast around the harbour as part of its Dioriviera campaign. The seats have been redecorated with grey star totem pillows and Dior-branded lifebuoys with images of Dior’s store on Avenue Montaigne printed on the walls.

Taking inspiration from Dior’s legacy and Star Ferry’s rich history, the campaign reimagines the iconic steamboat in custom white livery and an equally interesting interior. The seats are also decorated with custom grey star pillows to match with the main theme of the campaign. Additionally, the lifebuoys were also given the full Dior treatment – adorned with the brand’s signature monogram print graphic which was meticulously hand-painted for over two months.

Hong Kong’s Star Ferry was founded in 1888 and provides ferry services across Victoria Harbour between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The ferry often attracts tourists for its scenic harbour crossing experience for a low price. Taking the Star Ferry is one of the best ways to enjoy the view from both Hong Kong and Kowloon.

The Dior-themed Star Ferry is open to the public from now till November 5.
