Located in Shanghai’s L Mall in Pudong, the 23,100 square-metre-store is due to open in the second half of the financial year ending February 28, 2019, according to a press release from I.T Ltd, the joint venture partner for Galeries Lafayette in China.

The store will be funded by Galeries Lafayette China internally and will not require additional working capital from the two shareholders, said I.T.

Galeries Lafayette first entered China in 2002, but pulled out soon after, re-entering with a star-studded Beijing store launch in 2013.

In other markets, the Parisian retailer has been on a retail rollout this year, opening its first stores in Istanbul in May and Dubai earlier in the year.
