Hong Kong fairs bring 2,500+ exhibitors for toys, baby products, stationery and licencing

Four trade fairs, attracting more than 2,500 exhibitors and offering a unique range of sourcing opportunities in toys and games, baby products, stationery and licensing, opened on Monday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) events include the first HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, as well as the HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair and the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair, which is jointly organised with Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. All three fairs run until later today, 14 January.

Asia’s largest toy fair
The 36th Toys & Games Fair is the largest event of its kind in Asia and the second biggest in the world. Approximately 2,000 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions are taking part. Catering to emerging trends in the industry, the fair features a Brand Name Gallery and two new product zones. The Testing & Certification Services Zone offers solutions to guarantee safe, non-toxic toys, while the Video Games Zone reflects a boom for the computer-game market. A number of seminars have been organised to illustrate toy-safety regulations in the Chinese mainland, the United States and Europe, as well as discussions on toy industry trends. The highlight of the fair is the Hong Kong Toys Industry Conference 2010 – Latest Product Safety Directives of the Toys Industry, organised by the Toys Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Toys Council and Federation of Hong Kong Industries.

Inaugural baby products fair
A spin-off from the toy fair, the HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair responds to growing worldwide demand for quality baby wear, baby-care products and accessories. The new event presents more than 300 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions.

The Baby Products Fair brings together major brand names such as Deryan BV from the Netherlands, Goodbaby from the Chinese mainland, Hauck GmbH & Co KG from Germany, Royal King Infant Products Co Ltd from Thailand and Team-Tex from France. Eight product zones cover baby wear and footwear, baby toys and activities, bedding and furniture, feeding and nursery, gift sets, maternity, skincare and bath products, and strollers and gear.

Seminar topics at the baby fair range from safety requirements to environmental concerns and strategies for reaching the mainland retail market. Winners of the Blessings of Life contest, Hong Kong’s first babywear design competition, are also on display at the Hall 3E concourse.

Stationery fair
The Hong Kong International Stationery Fair includes more than 240 exhibitors from 10 nations and regions, a nine percent increase from last year. It features four group pavilions from the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Thailand and Japan Design, and a new product zone, Gift Stationery. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the fair introduces a Hong Kong Stationery Award spotlighting innovative, environmentally friendly office products with all-winning entries on display at the Hall 1D concourse.

In another first, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show proved to be popular, running from 11-13 January.
