Retail spotlight: The latest openings in Macau

Macau, a vibrant city located on the southern coast of China, is known for its unique blend of Chinese and Portuguese influences. Though it has become known primarily for its world-class casinos and entertainment, Macau is emerging as a paradise for shoppers, offering a diverse range of shopping destinations to explore.

In 2023, Macau’s tourism industry demonstrated a robust recovery, with visitor arrivals reaching 28.2 million, equivalent to 71.6 percent of pre-pandemic levels when the city welcomed 39.4 million tourists, according to the Moodie Davitt Report. Macau also witnessed the return of international tourists in 2023, with 1,459,566 arrivals.

New openings at Shoppes at Four Seasons

A luxury shopping destination in Macao, The Shoppes at Four Seasons continues to elevate its brand portfolio with a series of new openings, with more on the horizon. Among its recent openings are standalone stores from fashion houses such as Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Chanel, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., and Italian cafe concept Cova. Also forthcoming is an expanded store from Saint Laurent.

British fashion house Burberry has launched a duplex concept store helmed by designer Daniel Lee, featuring remarkable wooden sculptures crafted by artist Casey McCafferty.

Fashion enthusiasts in search of a women’s range can head to the newly opened standalone boutique of Fendi, a contemporary space adorned with Fendi Casa furniture and embodies the Italian brand’s dualistic DNA.

The first Macau branch of Cova has also opened, designed to resemble the original Milan “caffè,” featuring crystal chandeliers and luxurious sapphire blue suede carpets. On offer is an assortment of culinary favourites from Cova.

Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2024 pop-up 

Louis Vuitton has introduced an exclusive Men’s spring/summer 2024 pop-up concept, showcasing the highly anticipated debut collection by menswear creative director Pharrell Williams. The immersive experience, open until February 23, offers guests the opportunity to explore a range of pop-up exclusives, luxurious leather goods, exclusive ready-to-wear apparel, shoes, and accessories.

Tiffany & Co.’s new flagship boutique

Spanning 4,020 square feet, the Tiffany & Co. flagship boutique celebrates the brand’s innovative artistry while paying homage to the brilliance of diamonds. Every detail, from the captivating glass exterior to the stunning interiors, showcases the brand’s illustrious heritage and timeless appeal. Beyond being a retail destination, the boutique invites guests to immerse themselves in the enduring allure of Tiffany & Co. as they explore the latest collections.

DFS opens a wines and spirits concept

Luxury travel retailer DFS Group introduced its first-ever DFS wines and spirits multi-boutique concept zone in Macau. Spanning 300 square metres, the remarkable venue showcases an extensive collection of the finest wines and spirits from over 140 renowned brands, including Hennessy and Penfolds. Notably, The Macallan, The Dalmore, and Johnnie Walker are making their shop-in-shop debut in Macau within this concept zone.

Located within T Galleria by DFS, Shoppes at Four Seasons, the concept zone comprises four distinct areas: the House of Whiskey, Hennessy, Les Caves de Champagne, and the new DFS Wines & Spirits store, tailored to cater to enthusiasts, collectors, connoisseurs, and novices alike.

“We are excited to present DFS’ newest wines and spirits concept in Macau Four Seasons that has reimagined the liquor shopping experience. This is highlighted by Hennessy, with the world’s first rotating bar treating customers to an immersive visual and sensory experience,” said Daniel Licari, senior director, global merchandising, spirits, wine, tobacco and food of DFS.

At the concept, customers are presented the option to personalise Hennessy bottles, among other exclusive offerings. In a world first, Penfolds has launched an AI Digital Sommelier encouraging wine discovery through their iconic extensive portfolio.

Another highlight of the new zone is the largest Hennessy boutique in Macau, spanning an impressive 139 square metres. This deluxe boutique embodies the “spirit of indulgence” with its exquisite design, taking inspiration from oak wood barrels that play a vital role in the creation of Hennessy cognacs. The fusion of the maison’s signature colors and patterns with modern architectural elements beautifully encapsulates its illustrious history and culture.

The boutique’s centrepiece is the world-first exclusive Hennessy Rotating Bar, a true gem that provides a unique and unforgettable setting for customers to enjoy iconic Hennessy cognacs in unparalleled style.

Beyond the cognacs, the space also showcases the popular champagne brands of Moët Hennessy travel retail, including Dom Pérignon, Moët & Chandon, and more.

Galeries Lafayette Macau

Spanning over 30,000 square feet and overlooking the Nam Van Lake, Galeries Lafayette Macau showcases more than 100 prestigious international brands, including exclusive “First-in-Macau” offerings and the “EDIT by Galeries Lafayette” section.

A highlight of the opening festivities will be the debut of the first Marni Market in Macau and a pop-up store by niche luxury fragrance brand Byredo. Galeries Lafayette Macau also partnered with Charlotte Tilbury to present an brand drone show above the waterfront.
