Located in the Harajuku district, the store is centred around a “polka-dot avant-garde,” to reflect the Japanese artist’s signature dot design, and features a plethora of installations and decorations.

At the heart of the store lies a realistic sculpture of Kusama herself dressed in a yellow and black polka dot shirt. The interior uses mirror balls and mannequins with the brand’s polka-dot pattern on the background of the ‘Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama’ sign.

The French label, owned by the luxury group LVMH, first teamed up with artist Yayoi Kusama, ten years ago.

For this second chapter, initially unveiled during the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2023 fashion show, the Japanese artist has painted her psychedelic polka dots all over Louis Vuitton’s monograms, on bags, shoes and even perfumes.

Ahead of its launch, Steven Miesel shot the collection’s campaign, which stars Gisele Bündchen, Liya Kebede, Devon Aoki, Christy Turlington and Anok Yai.

The pieces, which have been available for pre-order in China and Japan since January 1, will go on sale worldwide on January 6 in all Louis Vuitton shops, including the Tokyo pop-up.
