In 2016, it was announced that an Hermès bag was officially a better investment than the stock market – over the last 35 years, bags have seen a 500 percent rise in value.
When Thierry Hermès’ family business started as a harness maker in Paris in 1837, it quickly became the go-to destination for European royalty – even Napoleon Bonaparte was one of their clients. Today, Hermès’ bags have become synonymous with luxury, quality, and craftsmanship. Known for their quality materials and timeless nature, Hermès goods can be passed down from generation to generation.

From Oct 1 to Oct 9, the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza will host the Hermès ‘In The Making’ exhibition, showcasing Hermès’ artisan techniques and craftsmanship.

The French luxury house’s artisans will demonstrate how they bring life to its most coveted luxury products, such as the iconic Kelly bag and the new Hermès H08 watch. Guests will also be exposed to the meticulous painting of their Fauves de Nuit design upon a white porcelain plate from the Hermès’ tableware collection. A craftsman’s workbench inspired the open-plan exhibition space. Four themes are explored – preservation of know-how, respect for and quality of materials, commitment to long-term sustainability and regional anchoring.
