Slated to open in November and running until June 2024, the pop-up boutique will feature a selection of Chanel bags, accessories and clothing.
Chanel previously opened stores for limited periods at the Shilla Jeju in 2021 and 2022.
More recently, the luxury house mounted pop-up retail experiences in Hong Kong, where it showcased its ‘Codes Couleur’ beauty range until August, and in New York, where Chanel launched a pop-up restaurant inspired by classic American diners in September.
Travel retailers such as the Shilla Duty Free have expressed optimism for Jeju’s tourism market.
According to the Moodie Davitt Report, following the Chinese government’s decision to permit group tourism to South Korea announced on August 10, Jeju has seen encouraging signs of recovery and by 2024, a full recovery is expected to over 1.4 million visitors.
