Dior has announced plans for a new Monsieur Dior restaurant in Osaka, Japan, slated to open in 2025.

The venture is in partnership with decorated French chef Anne-Sophie Pic and signifies the newest addition to Dior’s restaurant portfolio, joining the ranks of the Monsieur Dior restaurant, which is overseen by French chef Jean Imbert at Dior’s flagship location in Paris.

In recent years Dior has launched Café Dior establishments in various locations across the United States and Asia, testing a market that is eager for more accessible touchpoints to luxury goods. Most recently, a Café Dior also helmed by Anne-Sophie Pic opened in Japan’s Kansai International Airport on December 8.

Luxury foodservice has recovered at a faster pace than other industries within the high-end sector, reflecting not only more conservative spending, but a growing appetite for premium food and beverage offerings.

Japan, in particular, has shown a rapid growth rate for luxury foodservice, with a year-on-year growth rate of 52 percent from 2021 to 2022, followed by Hong Kong, which saw a 45.6 percent growth rate in the same period.

“Global dining revenue from luxury and fashion brands is set to grow by 19 percent by the end of 2023 with an additional 19 percent sales growth set for the next five years. This growth will mainly be driven by consumers looking for novel experiences, with good examples coming from Tiffany & Co.’s café, Prada’s dining ventures, and Kitsuné’s Café Kitsuné,” says Fflur Roberts, head of luxury at Euromonitor International.

Osaka’s Monsieur Dior restaurant will be helmed by Pic, who is the world’s most Michelin-starred female chef. Pic’s remarkable gastronomic prowess is exemplified by her three Michelin-starred restaurant, la Maison Pic, located in Valence, France, which has been a cherished family establishment for three generations.
